LOOKEY HERE: While the below paragraphs are what the piece was based upon and inspired by, certain aspects of my personal views have changed. If you're interested in those, refer to the edit below. Also this was from two years ago, I had terrible typing manners.
i was reading a book on hitler, and (dont ask me why how, i dont feel like explaining it) i came to the conclusion that cities are bad. it was talking about how he took credit for figuring out that when you group a bunch of people together, they end up losing their sense of self and relate more to the whole of the croud. we're also studying urbanization and the growth of society in anthropolpgy, so of cource i'm already pissed at humanity. my thoughts? when you group alot of people in one place under one name, you loose the individual voice alltogether and get an overall feeling of dull insanity. this works in crowds, cities, rallys, assemblies, and is the sole puropse of a pep rally: to get people to feel the same about something. humans keep building bigger, keep adding more, and in that act we loose a bit of who we are. i'm not saying that large ammounts of anything is evil, i'm just saying that enough is enough. give me your thoughts on this...i know mine are a jumbled mess, just because it would take me a million years to explain all of my reasonong. acrylics and ink on cardboard, about 30 minutes. copyright me. 6/30 EDIT: *TO ANYONE WHO FAV'S COMMENTS, VIEWS, READS, WHATEVER: THANKS SO MUCH! Even with the simple ink drawing, the textures totally make it shine, awesome work.
Only suggestion for future work, is maybe try something more traditional for good practice? Like a realistic portrait or still life, maybe. -- let's pretend we don't exist let's pretend we're in antarctica wow, thanks!

Now, I truly and utter loove this one, and I'm gald to read that there are other people thinking like I do. What you just said about loosing you individuality, about cities, and mass regroupments of people, and how they seem to react to this... it totally touches me, you strike all way through my deepest beliefs, and the way of thinking that has been orienting my life for years. You know, I used to talk (when speaking about crowds of humans) about what I called the "Lemming Phenomenon"... How a mass of individually intelligent people seem to loose any sense on respect for others, civism and politeness and even at some level, intelligence... And cities do that too... It's pretty scary actually, and I have my word that it'll eventually crash... The answers, mostly to Life and how to live it, (for me at least) always comes back to leaving the big cities (in my case, Montreal). It's really a shame you're not in Montreal, because we'd have much to share over a beer... And since I'm in a kinda "politico-oriented-activism-artistical-collective", you could have come to one of our many "Creative Freedom Nights" and paint Chaos on flesh and canvas with us...

I think the drawings fully grasps the message you're communicating. The lavished greyish/brownish-green color cheme is most appropriate, and truly efficient of the zombieness you're deploring, and so is the barcode on the top of the city. The comic balloon by the way in an interesting addition to the very graphic style of the image, it adds another dimension, a dimension of language, or an attempt of communication but its also showing that the alienation has also taken over in this area of the mass... Can't even communicate as they want anymore... Anyway, that's how I received it. I truly love this piece, and I'm a fan of your art. wow, thank you so so much.
